What is the theme of surah al Kahf

1- People of The Cave

And it was mentioned in Surat Al Kahf that few young people believed in God in a city full of unbelievers. In fact, this was God’s test of their faith or belief. When these young men felt threatened by the infidels in that country, they chose to leave it to preserve their faith. They go to the cave and God sleeps on them for many years. When they wake up and exit the cave, they realize that a long time has passed and they are surrounded by believers.

Morals: Like these young men, we must have firm faith in Islam even when we are surrounded by infidels. We must have trust that our Lord will take care of us and put our strength and power on Him.

2- The Trial of Religion

This passage from Surat Al-Kahf tells an important story from ancient times. When God sent the message, there were few believers who accepted it. However, the majority of the people in that city were unbelievers. And when the believers faced their punishment, they had to seek protection in the cave. God Almighty has put them to sleep for centuries, and by the time they wake up, the entire city has become a believer.

Morals: No one should be discouraged in the way of God and facing discord. Instead, one must believe in God’s power and be patient. This makes believers patient and strong to memorize.

3- Test of Wealth & Blessings

There was a man who was very rich and had two beautiful gardens. But he was an unbeliever, and even when God bestowed His mercy on him in the form of very prosperous gardens were bestowed on him. But he did not thank God for the blessings. In fact, he began to doubt divine mercy and blessings. He bragged about himself. As a result, God Almighty took away his wealth, and he finally knew the delusion he was living in. But it was already too late for him.

Morals: This story from Surat Al-Kahf teaches us that everything we have been given is only from God Almighty. And we should always be thankful for that. When Allah bestows wealth on us, we should be thankful and use it purposefully for the good of the world and Islam. Because this world is not our eternal abode.

4- The Trial of Knowledge

The story of this Surat Al-Kahf is about Prophet Musa (pbuh) and Khidr (RAA). Moses (pbuh) believed that he was the most knowledgeable person on earth. And no one has more knowledge than him. When God Almighty guided him to meet Khidr (RAA), who was more knowledgeable than Moses, peace be upon him.

Morals: The story of Surat Al-Kahf teaches us that God is All-Knowing and we should not be proud of His blessings. Our knowledge should make us humble and we should always use it for good.

5- Dhul-Qarnayn; Just Leader

Dhul-Qarnayn was a wise, mighty and just king who upheld justice and traveled around the world to help those in need. He was the king who imprisoned Gog and Magog (Gog and Magog) behind a great wall and provided relief to the people from their violence.

Morals: It is God who provides us with all strength. We should use our blessings for good. If we are able to do good even when it seems difficult, then we should trust God and hasten to do so because God Almighty loves the doer of good and also helps them to accomplish good deeds.
